"We're grounding these discussions in evidence rather than predetermined outcomes," said Sarah Heck, Anthropic's head of policy programs. The initiative follows CEO Dario Amodei's May prediction that AI could eliminate 50% of entry-level white-collar positions, potentially pushing unemployment to 20% within five years.

The policy-focused effort aims to develop frameworks for what Heck describes as a dual-edged transformation: "The shift brings both disruption and opportunity." Silicon Valley remains divided on whether generative AI will primarily create new career paths or accelerate workforce displacement.
